  • @sallybumbas What makes Qu Yunxia 3:50 1500 meter world record in 1993 so ridiculous is that her best time in 1992 was 3:57. So she took seven full seconds off her 1500 meter time in just one year! That's a whole lot for 1500 meters. And then after that she never came close to running that fast again.

  • @idontsignin since you posted your comment right here... You know, commentaries are supposed to state one's opinions and everyone doing so has to expect critical feedback, especially on YOUTUBE! Besides, every runner and every athlete in general has to feel offended by your statement... I'm talking about the last part. Everything else is your business...that's right.

  • @AenLu ok and since when did i ask for an opinion.

  • @idontsignin boy, you seem to have no idea of sports at all! your statement is simply stupid. that's all I have to say...

  • actually i dont think we've seen the last of the chinese.i wouldnt be suprised if they rise again, someday, but itll be tougher for them, next time around.they will have to come up against tougher than tough kenyan and ethiopian women, who are getting better, and more numerous, every year.the chinese will be hard pressed to beat them.

  • This is the reason I am starting to become fed up with sports, I don't believe any athlete is clean

  • @201081hero 4 of the runners in that October 18, 1997 1500 meter race were only teenagers at the time. Lan Lixin was 18 years old, Yin LIli and Lang Yinglai were 17, and Zhang Ling was only 16.

Strange enough, none of them never came close to running that fast again. Lan Lixin went from 3:53 to just a 4:21 bronze medalist at the 2001 East Asian Games by the time she was 22. 16 year old Zhang Ling went from 3:54 to 4:18 by age 19. Lang Yinglai who ran 3:51 simply disappeared after 1997.

  • I love how clean athletics was in th 90's. I don't know how the IAAF didn't find it odd that 5 of the top 10 womens 1500m were ran on the same day all by chinese runners (October 97), and 7/10 of the best times are chinese, yet china won less than 10 track medals at olympics from 1988-2004
