To tell the truth, the real irony is that driving on Coal as Electricity actually isn't such a bad idea.

Well true, the end product is actually pretty clean.
Because you go from a solid, to a gas, to a liquid. And you leave out some of the undesirable parts.
HOWEVER in terms of Global Warming Coal-to-Liquid spews out CO2 like crazy.

Romney's energy plan will really create U.S. energy independence, even net exporter status.
This is how we will beat the terrorists. I think Romney can win the war on terror! Energy independence is 60% of it.

America was founded on independence, the colonies were self reliant. America produces 6% of the worlds oil and consumes 25% of it. As long our economy and way of life is dependent on foreign oil, we will never be free from conflict, and we will continue to send billions, trillions of dollars to despots around the world.
