@tjenk71 because depending where you may have your gun you will not have enough time to pull it out then shoot why not make yourself a deadly weapon before actually using weapons. What is a warrior without his weapons? "A WARRIOR STILL!!!!"

@tjenk71 Because of the "21-feet" rule. Given that an assailant is within 21 feet of an armed individual, even trained police officers are quite often unable to draw a weapon, aim, and fire before the assailant can cross the 21 feet and attack, forcing the individual to enter into hand-to-hand combat. Hence the reason many personal defense instructors will insist that a person carry either a knife or similar hand weapon in addition to a handgun.

Id love to see her do that when there are really two men coming after her. The guy from the rear would probably just beat her over the head with a 2X4 or somthing else that was just laying around while the guy in front is distracting her. Watch your 6 and at the first cut or distraction... RUN! (if possible), 200 yards minimum.
