This is a track from L. Ron Hubbard's 1982 album SPACE JAZZ. The best fun fact about this track is that it was created using a revolutionary, for the time, Fairlight CMI synthesizer that cost over $25,000. The rest of the album is just as ridiculous/awful/hilarious as this song. You can download Space Jazz in its entirety in 320 kbps MP3s at www.rebuilttrannyrecords.com

no no, by "this joke" i'm referring to the song on this page. i'm using the link to give an example of a synth-driven masterpiece that was recorded way before this

What was the point of that link, to show that someone actually writes worse songs than Hubbard? Clearly you don't know anything about synths if you don't understand why the first digital sampling keyboard was revolutionary. Duh.

Sampling technology was big news in 1982. It was like "Hey that's awesome! We can take the actual sound of something and play music with it!" What normally happens is after you've farted into the mic and played Smoke on the Water with it a couple of times, you realise you have no actual musical ideas and you'd better stop now before you embarass yourself. Not so for Ron...

Yes it sounds like something my Commodore 64 would have vomited up. Instead it is from Commodore Hubbard. It has no point or melody, just like him.
