Chapter 3
"D--don't," Joe stuttered once again, now scared for his life. He attempted to clear his throat, "don't, stop! Put down the knife," he said more confident.

There was something holding her back from slitting his throat right then. Though Renee didn't know what. It would be no trouble to her to kill him here, right. She could then finish her job with his younger brother and be free from this family forever. There was something about this family. She got a feeling from the first time she looked at Nick's picture, and it wasn't a good feeling. It was a feeling of ... longing almost. But longing of what?
Then she had brushed the unwelcome feeling aside but now, staring into his eyes, she could not. Those eyes which were so fearful only moments ago were now full of strength, a strength that she longed to lean on. Renee suddenly felt the urge to be held in his arms. Like the thoughts that filled her head, she dropped the knife from his throat and stepped back. She looked down at her hands, they were shaking. Renee clasped them together and stepped back once more, desperately wanting to get away from this boy who made her feel so uneasy, so weak.

In a clearer voice than before Joe repeated, "What are you doing?"

Renee opened her mouth to speak, but found that she could not. Shaking her head, she stepped back once more. This time, Joe stepped forward also. Why was unknown to her, but tears welled up in her light green eyes. She took another step back, making the target's older brother take another three. He was only making it worse! Why couldn't he just leave her alone? With every step he took closer the strange feeling in her heart got stronger. But that couldn't be possible, it can't! Why is he doing this? How?! What is he doing? These questions ran through her mind, making her lightheaded. This CANNOT be happening, she was trained not to feel, to make her heart as cold as stone. 'Feeling was weakness,' that is what her father had told her just before he died. She couldn't fail him now! No, not now- especially now! Never had Renee been more afraid of something than she was of these new unwanted feelings. She closed her eyes for a moment, wishing it all away. When she opened them again the boy, that boy who in the matter of minutes turned her world upside down, was even closer than before. So close that she could smell him, his cologne and sweet smell awakening her senses. Renee took another step back, causing herself to trip over the gun that was placed on the ground. With widened eyes, the young woman fell backwards but before she could fall over the side of the old church Joe's arms were around her, pulling her into his chest and away from the edge. The vulnerable teen clung to her savors shirt, soaking it with tears. The sudden rush of emotions that had over come her since first looking into the boy's eyes was all to much, like a train hitting her, going top speed. She had never, ever felt like this. Only once she had cried after she was old enough to talk. That one time had taught her never to cry again, no matter the situation.

"What is wrong with me?" She thought as cried. Very soothingly and softly, Joe ran his hands over her hair while uttering things that they both knew weren't true. Things like 'it's going to be fine.' It wasn't going to be alright, she knew it, for she had failed her most important job. Mark had said he believed that she could do this, he never, ever, said that and she had failed. Realizing this, she cried even harder.... realizing that the end was soon to come.... or was this just the beginning?

yeah bout the bedtime i never have one i just sleep when im tired but i gotta wake up at certain times, like 7am for school and on weekends whenever but i should be awake before 7pm :D hehe or else i wont fall back asleep
