Pronounced "three-five-eight days over two," the new entry to the increasingly convoluted and esoteric Kingdom Hearts series focuses on Roxas's time in Organization XIII in the time between Chain of Memories and Kingdom Hearts 2. The game looks and plays a lot like its console brethren, something Square Enix is quite good at accomplishing on the Nintendo DS. 358 Days uses a mission structure that works really well for the handheld platform, but these missions tend to become repetitive over time. Combined with a plot that would be complimented if we called it "plodding" or "crawling," the game simply feels too empty and unrewarding. The basics are there, and fun, but something with the pacing went crazy and it seems like Square Enix padded the experience a little too much. With customizable characters, a multiplayer component that allows up to four people go through the missions, a decent amount of challenge missions and other side quests, and excellent presentation values, there's quite a bit to like about 358 Days, but the frustration from rarely making progress may become too much of an issue for some people. Unquestionably a decent game at worst, it's worth checking out, but some healthy investigation may be warranted before committing to a full purchase.

  • No. It is not. You are mistaken. It is "three-five-eight days over two."

  • Great review Craig. The graphics look pretty good for a DS system. How did you capture the game footage?

  • Thanks man. I actually just use a regular old Canon Powershot on a tripod. Doesn't give the best picture, but I think it does the trick for now.

  • @KidKingdomHearts It doesn't just apply to americans but i like your thinking ;)

  • I thiught it was 3 5 8 by 2

  • this game is awesome, u did a good review, but y didnt u mention the challenge mission 4 defeating the 6 giant heartless. that was hard becuase i had 2 fight the dustflier.currently im at 226 sigils.its a little repedative, but there should more missions in the castle, and more worlds, and less missions in each world. the same map gets annoying.

  • @AdminKinto Actually there is a "right way". I'm just going by Tetsuya Nomura's pronunciation of the game aka the director/designer.

  • @KidKingdomHearts Nope you are ABSOLUTELY wrong!!
