I'M SELLING THIS CAR! A detailed, up-close look of my 1976 Leyland Australia Morris Mini Clubman Van. Shows the front grill, both sides, the back, the messed up interior, and the engine, including paint and tyre sticker details. Also a request for where can I get a Solenoid? (When I turn the ignition key, the solenoid just "clicks"!). By the way, the folks from "down under" tell me that (1) external hinges were on the Australian Mini's doors and (2) it is a Clubman Van, (the term "Estate" is only a UK term). This is the "large" version - look later for an 8 meg "small" version of this video. In case you're wondering, that's my son, Seth, 14, to whom I gave this car for Christmas. Thanks to John G. for the "donation"! NOTE: It is now in the USA / Pacific Northwest near Seattle, and I'm selling it

  • Oh right, so lift up door handles mean that its from Austalia? Hmm, my Mini, built in Britain is now Australian!

  • I'm just telling you what the Queensland Mini club told me. Plus the paint decals on the engine compartment say it's from Australia, as do a number of other things.

  • WOW. Ive got the a mini form the axact same era. By the way its called a Leyland Mini Clubman. Not Morris, those are the old ones. Anyway mine is a 1978 mini clubman, exact same colour- yellow devil, exact same engine and everything, Except mine is a saloon. Hehe, Id love one of those van ones.

  • g'day from the USA! Thanks for the advice. Any ideas where I could get a Silenoid?

  • UK = Door Handles - Australia = Door Opening thingies !!!

  • mini sport .co.uk about the solanoid

  • Correct. And the battery was just behind the driver's seat.

  • UK versions had a push button handle and later models had interior hinges . Didn't break as often as OZ models. Had a green version of the model shown. Busy restoring a 65 and a 77

  • My first car was a Clubman estate, 1981. You don't know how many memories came back hearing the springs on the rear doors, lol.

  • so cars with lift up door handles are australian? so thats most of the cars in the world....nice

  • my yellow devil leyland mini has a broken passneger side door handle too lol

  • part 2

I like Seven Enterprises for parts, they have better in-stock than Mini Mania (usually).

Vans were not Estates or Countryman - those had rear seats or footwells behind the front seat where you could add seats, and their spare is inset in the back floor.

The van has only two seats, is very difficult to turn into a four-seater, and like the truck the spare is behind the LH seat under the van deck.

  • Yes, the later Aussie ones were all badged as Leyland - even the Marina was badged as Leyland instead of Morris...

In New Zealand, the Austin and Morris badges were kept on the Minis until the end of local production in the early 80s!

  • Minis are the best
