Watch as my pet rats' home, a Ferplast Mito aviary, seems to redecorate itself mysteriously :-p after having been cleaned thoroughly.

  • How does it take to clean the cage?!

  • @HidanxRaksha Do you mean how long it takes to clean this cage? About 2 to 3 hours of hard work. If you work a little less hard, then it takes a little longer... ;-)

  • whats the best bedding. i have little wood chip thinngs and alot of people say thats bad

  • I woul'dn't recommend using wood shives/sawdust either. I think EcoBed (cardboard) if by far the best bedding. A second best is probably Mini-Hemp (hemp shives).

  • Lovely cage!

  • Thanks!

  • my girls would be jealous. :)

  • Man that rat has a better room than i do! lol

  • nice cage ! this is my cage : youtube.com/watch?v=rhRI_RGo6To

  • @TaleTN Amen to Ecobedding, best stuff ever and my mice and rats love the stuff. It is so easy for them to build little nests during the winter months to keep warm. Plus it is easy for them to tunnel under it and with a mouse who is alergic to dust it was a real life saver :D

  • @immortalmayhem425 Pine tends to be ok (but not ideal) but you never should use cedar. Shavings are dusty and they tend to irritate ratties respiratory system.

  • well in a way rats are like us, image if you were shut away in a cage for most of the day and all u had was yourself n a few toilet role tubes, etc ... tht wud be pretty dull n depressing after a long period of time, this is the same for rats, they are more likely to get depressed if they are alone and hav no stimulation and its not good for their health

  • Cedar is bad. It's toxic to rats I believe.

  • I use old towels and flannels.
