the zoom doesnt seem very smooth, and the af sound is quite annoying :( and im planning on gettig this lens too :P

got a 500d as well, but with videomode, i prefer manual focus because of the noise ;)

The lens has a pretty high distortion. I have an 18-200mm EF-S IS too but without some post-processing stills aren´t so good. And I haven´t heard about a way to correct distortion in videos.
