On the same day as the Lennox Head Tornado event, I stumbled upon these twin whirlpools in a heavily flooded paddock. They were big, fast and intense!

  • we had a bit of rain last night, nek minnit...

  • It sounds like my friend blowing in her straw to make bubbles with the milk lol

  • If a Person were to fall into a whirlpool , what would happen besides then drowning ?

  • @winston2015 Likely that one started first. Then the other was caused to spin in the opposite direction by the flow into the first.

The Coriolis effect is very weak and delicate on a small scale and easily overcome.

With my hand I stopped an even bigger vortex and spun it in the opposite direction. It continued in that direction until the water drained.

Some tornadoes spin in an opposite direction, probably caused by a previous vortex likewise starting it off in the opposite direction.

  • heheh...Its funny how he so casually says 'got a bit of rain last night' and then pans up to show Lake Erie ! Wow. Why are they spinning in opposing directions? I didnt think that was possible. Maybe you captured some incredibly rare phenomenon. Or more likely, I don't know what Im talking about?

  • @robertgift what strikes me about this is that they are going in two different directions! How is that possible>?? I know the hemispheres drain in opposing directions, or so I thought I knew. What's going on here?

  • Two drain pipes?

    Nice.

    Thank you.

  • dude c'mon it's like 2 ft deep

  • i think lugia is nearby
