Danger Mouse used samples of the beatles AND Jay-Z without their permission. Even after trying to stop it's release, Danger Mouse still resisted and released it anyway. It's right that the album was banned, and IMO Dnager Mouse should have been arrested as well. While it may be true that the Acappella version of Jay-Z's Black Album was released for the primary purpose of remixes and mash-ups, if he doesn't want it used in a certain album, then Danger Mouse has no right to do so.

Oy do you know how ridiculous that last sentence is? I never read anywhere that Jay-Z had a problem with it but of course everyone knew that Beatles copyright owners had a problem.
Danger Mouse had only released a limited amount of CDs (about 3000) and didn't press the issue further. It was fans and peoples like that that distributed the CD as much as possible. I, myself, remember downloading it on Grey Tuesday to give it a whirl.
