I started working on my press handstand last summer. I've been training it inconsistently, and haven't made much progress. But, I still really want this skill back. So, I'm recommitting to it and focusing on it again.
I'm working the skill in three parts: (1) straddle sit to straddle stand--status hopeless. Although my straddle L sit hold for time has improved. Still, I think I'll need to acquire the force to get my bum up; (2) straddle stand to handstand--can do sometimes, but mostly I use my bed as a spotter--definitely doable with practice; (3) negative--handstand back down to straddle L sit--the only thing I can consistently do. Using the bar to increase my dynamic flexibility, core, and quad strength--the tighter compression that I can hold the less mechanically disadvantaged I will be. And I need all the advantages I can get.
excellent, and a good way to do free standing handstands, against the bed, specially for beginners like me. nice one.

@Mybody4life The bed is a good spotter. Good luck with your handstands.

I think you're almost there! Admittedly I have no experience with these things, but it looks like you just need a little more strength in the shoulders or upper back - not sure. Your balance is there, looks like. Anyway I'm sure you know what you need to do - just wanted to offer encouragement. Good luck!

@nasaguy I'm actually not sure what I need to do.... but you're right the weakness is in the shoulders and back--probably hips too. I appreciate the support. I'll keep working on it. It really is a beautiful skill. I'm willing to wait for it.
