People are missing it here. It's not about music. NYD did nothing new, but they created a SCENE in NYC consisting of several thousand people that followed them around. People like DeeDee Ramone. Musicians with limited chops, but big time attitude. When the NYDs imploded by 74, that SCENE... those same people... morphed into the NY Punk Scene circa 1975. Glam died, but the ATTITUDE became punk.

This truely sounds live, (unlike some of the other 'live' Doll videos on youtube), and they deliver full on. When I bought this album in '73' it was too raw, crude and too 'unpolished' for me to 'really' like it. Now, 40 some years later I can't get enough of this album, I listen to it all the time. My heart still craving that wild rock 'n' roll animal, that lives here (Dollsville) in spades. No 'scene' can ever feed that beast, but music can. Thank you New York Dolls.

Well, I disagree concerning their music. It certainly was a high energy, raw, punky sound which had elements of the Stones but it also had its originality. They did set the stage and influence the punk scene for sure.
