Desenés
Hold on to your beach towels sunny South Florida, Desenés is a dynamic acoustic-instrumental trio that is causing waves after splashing into the local music scene in early 2003.
Desenés originally started out as an acoustic-instrumental duo in 1996, known then as Esenés. Co-founded by Mike Sfiropoulos and Bill Strecker, the part-time band stayed low-key, mostly recording and playing small art shows and private parties.
With the arrival of Desiree Portalatin and her percussion section to the line up, Esenés was transformed. The addition of the congas and bongos and variety of hand-percussion instruments added the Latin spice to the musical flavor which is now known as Desenés.
Desenés is a band built around original music, although they incorporate outside material into their music at times, such as Santana, the Gypsy Kings, and even classical pieces dating back to the 1600s.
Desenés fuses elements of reggae, flamenco, blues-jazz, world, and classical music to their sound creating a diverse range of musical styles.
