  • We have been doing this experiment from 1980 till now, and we are still waiting for the big boom, while our economy continues to get sicker and weaker. It's time to face the fact that this does not work, and never will work. Nothing trickles down. Never did, never will. We prospered under FDR, and almost collapsed under Hoover. If we would pay attention to our own history, we could learn something, instead of repeating the same mistakes over and over.

  • NHS = biggest employer in UK. Shame the US doesn't have that kind of employer now.

My dad works for the government oh no his job is useless what does he do he signals the trains without him they'd crash or not run trained for 4 years to be able to do it, but it's paid for by the state so obviously (like UK state run doctors) his job isn't "real." I hate how the UK conservatives use the same BS rhetoric as US cons now :(

  • Fuck it the government should just invest in all these companies until it has a controlling steak in them. then when it's a "job creator" and all these profits come back to IT as revenues to spend on jobs, instead of going to rich fucking individuals we can see the republicans call it a 'job creator' and worship it as they do the rich today. Take this with as much salt as 'the poor should go all al queda' it's just something their antics make me think - they radicalise me by being so insane.

  • While I agree people who's jobs can be cut SHOULD be cut, that should just mean lower hours for all of us if we had a maximum working time - work is a bad thing, more than we absolutely need to keep society going and science progressing, the biggest sign that capitalism fails is that it treats jobs as good in themselves, not a means to an end.

If he actually believes there are productive jobs for 400 million people he's deluded, we could only productively employ a small % of US 8 hours 5 days.

  • Look where the last tax cuts got us...not into this recession, that was the deregulation, but they got us into this deficit. Wait are these people earning over 200 thousand the same 'small buisiness owners' who have mom and pop stores they always talk about? I should open a corner store i didn't know it got you so much cash lol in GOP fantasy land

Why not cut the middle man of buisinessmen and just PAY PEOPLE TO DO SHIT. Invest in alternative energy and building schools etc!

  • Shows their priorities when they think taxing the rich is the worst thing to do, worse than letting people go unemployed or starve. Why don't they consider the Government a "job creator" since it's the biggest employer in the UK not sure about the US, that actually do something useful for people unlike most private jobs that just sell shit in this service driven economy. Jobs are all in India, would be a good thing, if we all shared the profits from our empire rather than just the few richfags.

  • @aaronsande Yup!

  • @daveharpe Which is why we should all have no problem "plundering" their massive wealth in the form of higher taxes. Ever heard of giving "110 percent"? That sounds about right to me. Need to make up for the past 2 decades of injustice.
