Part of the nasal sound comes from the fact that she obviously has a very powerful voice. You can tell when she sings from her diaphragm when she crescendos because it gets very loud, and more full sounding. Obviously she can't be that loud on the higher notes because it would distort the sound quality, so she's having to carefully manage the volume of her voice, which requires some nose-singing.
