India mourns death of gang-rape victim

The 23 year old woman who was gang raped and then thrown out of a moving bus in New Delhi has died.
 
She was receiving treatment at a hospital in Singapore which specialises in organ transplants.
 
Her alleged attackers have now been charged with murder.
 
Divya Gopalan reports from New Delhi where security's been stepped up in anticipation of protests.

i dont know about that, but i know that pakistan law is not entirely based on sharia law...only a few elements are implemented within the legal system i.e. child custody etc are followed other than that its not. however there was an argument that they should fully incorporate the sharia law as some believe once the punishments are in place crime should decline because sharia law punishments for some crimes in particular are very severe & are believed to discourage people from committing them

Unfortunately these freedoms do not always translate to women who are simply trying to go about their daily lives unharrassed. This is a high profile case, but the rate of rape in India is unnacceptable. Police do very little about rape cases and I believe that has to do with the fact that women are not respected.
