Pretty violent looking hit, apparently Fanelli's helmet was broken, and he sustained a fractured skull and orbital bone on the play.
The blood was said to have been the result of a previous cut being re-opened by the hit. The latest news I could find said that the 16 year old rookie is in "citical but stable condition", and that he was unconcious as he was being stretchered off the ice. Wow...Hope the kid is ok.

He saw liambus coming even before he went behind the net.did he just think the other player would skate by without trying to get the puck or decking him.i think he knew the hit was coming.he just got over powered. does any one pay attention to the fact he looked right at liambus before he went behind the net.keep your heads up boys.this just shows you that its amature hockey at its best
dude turned at the last second.what the hell is wrong with all you.you guy turned and bent down to play with the puck and liambus was lined and gunned for a clean hit.the other player should have been looking up. its the old keep your head up rule.what about that one.the unwritten one.GREAT HIT>sorry about the guys luck
he did not hit his head off the ice.. my mom is the head office manager at the kitchener rangers and the hinges off the zamboni door cut through his scull and his brain tissue came out
i dont think he shoul have been gone for the season. thats a little harsh..Liambus wa finishing his check. there was nothing wrong wth the hit itself, but the fact that finelli turned at the last minute screwed him over...he had a loose helmet, and his head hit the ice. Liambas couldnt help that. The authority figures in sports needto look at te intent of the hits more then the outcome. Injuries happen. This was not by any mean intentional.
in the end of it all.... fanelli should not have turned ... I know it would have been prob the same but different .... better to go with the back of ur head into the glass/ turnbuckle ... then the face.... any other player ...jumps out of the way/ into liambus.... You can also blame liambus for the speed he was carrying .... DONT TURN AWAY KIDS !! man up and take the hit ...
