wash only if you catch them playing in something like dirt or ashes of something very dirty.most owners only wash them twice a year but clean out the cage ALOT. you can adopt them for free(shelter) or they can be 100-200 dollers

@corfroo they dont smell if you give them a weekly bath, but u get used to the smell

@aldohodgkinson they live 7 years if cared for properly, its ok to only have one, and they practically are like dogs execpt you might want them descented and neutred/spayed if not you'll have an aggressive stinky ferret! lol

How bad do they stink?

@phantomlad Ferrets (as I hear) are stinky because of the pet food they eat from pet stores, if you get one and feed it meat and/or mice they won't stink or will even less then they uusually do. But there stink isn't to bad, at to me it isn't. Go to a pet store and stand next to the ferrets. and price varies depending on where you get them.

@phantomlad they dont even stink that bad first of all. as long as you change out their cage every week its fine. its not a strong smell either.
you get used to it, to say the least. i know that sounds gross but they dont have a gross smell.

I have a question about ferrets. I'm looking at buying one. Do they really stink? Or do you just wash it once a week, and there fine. Oh and how much are they?

they stink.. all the time, even when you have their scent glands removed. It's just how they are, stinky! but they really are fun pets and cute cute.. their prices vary
