@hart7668, it took off with Sharpe. Winslow was really someone who was ahead of his time in terms of playing the TE position differently, but as Sharpe said, in 1990, most teams were still looking for blocking TEs. I consider Winslow the Sammy Baugh of TEs: a superstar receiving TE before the league had superstar receiving TEs.

Sharpe changed TEs. When he came in, TEs were for edge blocking. Sharpe stretched the field and suddenly receiving TEs became all the buzz. Look at how many teams today rely on their TEs more for receiving than blocking.
