  • 90% of the doctors and other healthcare professionals are white when NPSA is broadcasting How to do the WHO surgical safety checklist. But most doctors and healthcare professionals name read in How not to do WHO surgical safety checklist are non-white. You are doing a better job of broadcasting that white doctors are better than the non-white than promoting safety. Why dont you change your name from NPSA to BNP-SA.

  • Hi Chicken,

I've carefully checked both films and find that you are not correct in saying that there are fewer white practitioners in the How Not To film.

In addition, there are more non-white practitioners (as you call them) in the How To Do it Correctly film.

  • The WHO surgical safety checklist should be taking place in every operating theatre. A copy should be present in the notes of each patient.

scrub nurse: consent said left, juz cut it bos, dun waste time...

  • If you're not convinced of the importance of this then read Atul Gawande's book: The Checklist Manifesto.

  • when oh when are theatre nurses in australia going to stop treating theatre techs like knuckle dragging morons just because we are not medically trained...sick to death of it tbh... on the "timeout" checklist, i agree it is ESSENTIAL and is lacking in Australia even with all our pre-checks before hand to get into theatre i come across (on a daily basis) no limbs marked..... no actual side listed on consent...and mssing allergies...

  • are these checks taking place in the operating theatres in maternity hospitals

    yes/no.
