makes no sense to me, why would I need to eat cookies at 2 in the morning. I'm not even awake then. you get a much more restful nights sleep if you stop eating early evening until breakfast.

well it doesn't actually say eat two cookies AT 2 am (in the morning). It says eat two cookies IN in the morning and 2 IN the afternoon. Eat two cookies IN the morning when you have breakfast.
