@boronghousegtk Where do I state Mariane is fully black? I mentioned in an earlier post, most members of the African Diaspora have nonblack admixture somewhere down the line, yet for the most part are still identified as black people. Secondly, Cuban is not a race, it is a nationality. & Who better to play a multiracial European character then a multiracial European person? Are you telling me Penelope Cruz or Salma Hayek would be a good fit SIMPLY because they are latin? please..
-
@monalisa02 mariane was not full black. she was quarter or so black. her mother was cuban and her father dutch. although her mother had some black blood, she would be referred to as a cuban since all hispanics in america are mixed. if you ask me, a latin actress would be best for the role if they would look at it on the "race" side.

couldn't america at least give the helicopters that they demanded even if they could not free the muslims?

@chsn09 Both lived during a time when the roles for BLACK actors were few and far between. Of course Horne would have had more roles offered to her if she could have passed for white. Even white actors were given black roles! There problem was not that they were mixed and could find roles as "mixed" actresses".. their dilemma was that they were identified as black and had to deal with segregation and lack of prominent and respectable black roles in the movie industry.
-
@chsn09 Carmen Jones had an all black cast which garnered Dandridge the first oscar nomination for a BLACK actress. Dandridge was accepted as black, hence the reason why she wasnt allowed to use the facilities of the very clubs that she HEADLINED! Peeing out of a cup and walking through the back door as opposed to the main entrance is white acceptance to u? HAHA
-
@chsn09 Since when did MARCUS GARVEY become the barometer for who is black and who isn't? There is no contradiction to being someone who is "fair" and black because guess what.. fair blacks do exist! Lena Horne comes from an African American family, just like Dandridge comes from two parents of black heritage. It was the movie industry that had difficulty giving her roles as a black woman, hell during this time white people were given roles as blacks! They are both coined as BLACK ACTRESSES!
-
Do you think their white and Native Am. ancestry ended the discrimination and segregation they were faced with? You can call them "mixed" till the cows come home, but truth is.. they were treated as and identified as black people. They are recognized as BLACK actresses, not multiracial actresses. Is Angelina Jolie no longer white because of her Native American ancestry? Chris Tucker has Native Am. and white ancestry, are you going to call him mixed or is he to dark to fit your qualifications?
-
@monalisa02 Also Lena Horne was never fully accepted as blacks because of the fact that she was mixed and at times she even considered passing for white and was accepted by whites more so than blacks. She struggled with her racial identity for years.
Dorothy Dandridge had a similar predicament.
Oh and the woman in this video is MIXED.
-
@monalisa02 LOOK IDIOT lol..... The "fair skinned" part alone did it and said it all lmao. That is a contradiction to be a light skinned or fair skinned "black" person. Marcus Garvey did not consider U.S. American "blacks" to be black at ALL because they are mixed haha.
-
@chsn09 Here is the thing idiot, if you are going to quote me then quote me in ENTIRETY! I stated "they are both fair skin black women with non-black admixture". The majority of blacks in America have European and Native American ancestory but identify and are identified as BLACK PEOPLE. If blacks in America had to be 100% black to be coined "black" then guess what.. damn near no one in America would be black! So TRY AGAIN buddy :)
those who killed him arent muslim these are pure murderers. r.i.p daniel pearl,he was a good person who tried to do even more good and got killed for it. im so sorry for your loss.
