The purpose of this project is to show how a bike can be used to generate hydrogen, a perfect sustainable renewable energy source. For a simple demo, a hydrogen model rocket is launched. A bike is used to create electricity which is regulated and input into an electrolyzer to make hydrogen gas from water; water is the only fuel required. The gas is ignited to launch the rocket. Hydrogen can be used in many ways: fuel for cooking, heating, modified engines, and in fuel cells to power electronics or fuel cell cars. Hydrogen can replace electricity and all fossil fuels, and the only exhaust is water!

  • Hi again,

To continue the comments below ...

Two, 12V, water filled, Hydrogen Cells supply Hydrogen and Oxygen when I turn the car on; and these two gases are burned with the normal fuel/air mixture.

No gas is stored and all gases are used until the engine is turned off. SAFE and SIMPLE.

Result ... up to 40% saving in fuel per mile driven - AND A VIRTUALLY TOTALLY CLEAN EXHAUST.

Good, anticipatory driving is the key - my average speed on long journeys is 50+ mph - so I don't hang around.

  • An excellent demonstration; and another clear statement that Hydrogen can be extracted from water using DC electricity.

Every single litre of water contains over 1200 litres of Hydrogen and about 800 or more litres of Oxygen. They are stored there - under normal atmospheric pressure - and they can be released from water simply by applying a few volts of DC electricity.

Daily - and for more than 4 years now - I drive a Volvo Estate car here, in the UK, which uses EXACTLY the same principle.

  • @ZebbMassiv and why wouldn't that be possible? just pump it into tanks.. np

  • now if you could instantly store that hydrogen under immense pressure in much larger tanks that last for days, then you might actually have something there.

  • now here's the rocket launch BOOM!

  • @ xmicina you are a complete IDIOT !!!! whatever shithole country your from you are an embarressment to it !!!! FOOL !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  • Thank you so much for thinking with about the easy access and usability of hydrogen gas...so many people would tie us to big company and the problems associated with that. You are very brave and I hope to be able to purchase your work for personal home use...please contact me with your products.

  • you did all that just to shoot a rocket lol
