@BloodyWolf17 ja er sagt es wirklich. Schaut man sich den Film im Original an, so ist Bruce Willis's Gegenspieler Hans Gruber, ein Deutscher! Daher muss Alan in seiner Rolle Deutsch sprechen.

@SeverusSnapeFan2 There is a more or less simple rule: "ss" when the vocal before it is pronounced short; the "ss" is spoken sharpley ([s] in phonetics). "ß" is also spoken sharpley ([s]), but used when the vocal before is pronounced short.

@Decieven You can replace the "ß", which is present on a german keyboard only, with a double "s", so that it would be "Schiess auf das Fenster". Both forms, the one with "ß" and with the double "s" would be grammatically correct in this situation, I suppose (I am not sure, even though I am a native speaker of german language...)

But anyway, there are some certain rules, when you have to use "ß" instead of the double "s" or the other way round, which are sort of confusing even for me =)

@Decieven The "Schieß dem Fenster" would be a sort of word-to-word translation of the english sentence (in a real word-to-word translation it would've been "Schieß das Fenster", anyway) It would actually been "Schieß auf das Fenster" (Shoot at the glass/window), "Zerschieß das Fenster" or "Schieß das Fenster kaputt" (Shoot the glass/window into pieces). But this is actually a mistake made by the script writer.

@Decieven It actually does make sense, what Mr. Rickman says in German here. It's "Was habe ich dir gesagt, was habe ich dir gesagt? Ich will, dass es keiner sieht. Haltet sie zurück. Ich sage es zum letzten Mal..." which may be translated with "What did I tell you, what did I tell you? I don't want anyone to see this. Hold them (the hostages) back. I'll say this for the last time..."

Anyway, "Schieß dem Fenster" (Shoot the glass) is actually wrong german grammar.

@PhantomTF It's really fast. He said something like "What did I told you? What did I told you?! I want that no one can see!" (German "Was hab ich dir gesagt? Was hab ich dir gesagt?! Ich will dass es keiner sieht!")

I think his German isn't that bad (: Just the "ich" (for "I") sounds a bit different, but mostly that's a bit difficult for English-speaking persons to say. O:
