Continued... But then, when we were building my transmission, we used 1st-4th B16 gears from a 99Si and a GSR 5th for 5th. With the 4.7 final drive, our gears were pretty much even 1st-4th, but since I could only have 5gears I used the GSR for 5th to maintain some sort of fuel economy and that is where he would gain some ground back. I would get 2 cars ahead, hit 5th, and he would gain back a car before we shut down.

Don't forget gearing. K20 trans has good gears. I had a B20/vtec eg hatch and my friend had k20 eg hatch. We were both tuned in at about 200-205whp and every time we raced, we would be even till 3rd then he would start to pull like he just hit a 50shot of nitrous. That was with me having a stock ls trans. Then I swapped in a b16 trans with 4.7FD and LSD and would always get him off the line and continue to walk him all the way through 4th. Then he would gain ground back when I was in 5th.

@patrickryan814 you kidding? k-series really are the better 4 cylinder motors honda has. it may be more expensive than the others, but mod for mod, K's make great power. i dont see any B-series, or H or F or D making 40-50whp off JUST bolt-ons and tuning alone. did you try racing a bolt-on k20 in a swapped civic with about equal weight? the difference is night and day when its a k-swapped car, and not the heavy cars the motor comes in.

My f20b civic walks away from k20 and even some turbo b16. It's an underrated motor but I think it's the best Honda has made. K-series is amazing but f-series I think is slightly better

@jhonny3sgte long gears arent always good. my k20a2 swapped civic making a few more HP and about 10 more TQ than my friends heavier b20V integra lost because of he had his gears shorter than my stock 4.3 final drive. its the only time i lost to a b20 VTEC, and its due to his shorter gears. and it was a highway run.
