On Wednesday, July 25, 2012, the Born Free USA Primate Sanctuary in south Texas received the first 10 of more than 100 monkeys (and one baboon) it is rescuing from the bankrupt Wild Animal Orphanage in San Antonio. The 10 stump-tailed macaques moved on this day all were rescued from the WAO from research facilities. They will live the rest of their lives as naturally as possible in the spacious Born Free USA sanctuary.
Born Free USA is a leader in animal welfare and wildlife conservation with campaigns against animals in entertainment, exotic "pets," trapping and fur, and the wildlife trade. The Born Free USA Primate Sanctuary provides a safe, permanent home for more than 500 nonhuman primates, many of whom were rescued from abusive situations in research facilities, roadside zoos, or private possession. Our mission is to "Keep Wildlife in the Wild."

I think what you did is amazing. However, I do believe some exotic animals can be kept in domestic situations and actually thrive. Some of us love primates and we wish to share our lives with them. Not all sanctuaries are good and many owners of exotic pets should NOT lose their animals because you don't agree that they should have them. Keeping a monkey as a companion, for example, can teach people that these animals are not just good for laboratory testing. You can teach compassion with them.

Check Global Federation of Animal Sanctuaries, as you're right, the term "sanctuary" does not make it so. In addition to preventing disease transmission and injuries to humans and physical and psychological damage to captive primates, we need to end taking infant primates from their mothers and selling them. Compassion can be taught in many ways that does not require a wild animal to be captive. Wildlife belongs in the wild, where they thrive best. More at bornfreeusa (dot) org/sanctuary

Thank You for doing this.. My heart breaks and I cry all the time because of the cruelty this world had against all animals.. I would save them and have them live with me if I could, to love, adore, and take care of all the world's animals.. I donate to organizations when I can...
