Thanks for watching - now get off your feet and dance : )
To All Parties Involved:
My name is Matthew Clark and I want to be in your movie.
I've loved to dance ever since I can remember: one of my earliest memories is rocking out to Prince's "Let's Go Crazy" with my parents and spinning around the kitchen with my mother until she got dizzy. As soon as I turned 16 and passed my driver's test my first destination as a product of the Philadelphia suburbs was the 16-and-up dance club across the Delaware River in New Jersey. When I discovered a team of wheelchair ballroom dancers years later I fell in love for a third time and dove in headfirst, relishing every nuance of this newfound physical language. During all of this I've never danced DESPITE being in a wheelchair; I don't dance to overcome my wheelchair or my disability. I dance THROUGH my disability - I dance through my wheelchair the same way a tennis player plays through her racket. The notion that one might negate the other never even occurred to me.
I cannot tell you how excited I am at the prospect of collaborating with a family of professionals to explore just how far wheelchair ballroom dancing can go. The thought of pushing myself to new heights and then climbing even higher has ignited a passion inside of me that only continues to build. As a developing filmmaker I am thrilled at the opportunity to be surrounded by a team of experienced craftsmen (and women!) and soak up as much as possible. I want to be part of this and am eager for the chance to commit myself 100% and beyond. Please let me know if there's anything I can do to assist your production in any way possible.
Thank you so much for your time and consideration,
Sincerely,
Matthew
That was awesome! I especially loved the lift at the end.
