LOL! that other guy makes me laugh so extremely hard. "your shoulders are DESIGNED to do a lot of work, a lot of heavy work... designed to handle this so, a lot of people understrain their shoulders, designed to go long, go heavy..." You can't tell me that doesn't sound completely reatrded. First of all who the fuck is this guy? Second, you dont need to do heavy weight at ALL to get an awesome workout - for any muscle - specifically shoulders. This looks so bad for you. I understand (cont).

No this isn't damaging your shoulders. Despite what the "slow and controlled" guys keep saying your body isn't that fragile. Just look at Olympic lifters they are very explosive with all their lifts and those guys are strong as hell. In fact almost all athletes uses explosive techniques. Just watch a baseball player swing a bat, a tennis player smash a serve, of a boxer through a punch. Do you see these folks go in slow motion? Heck no, they move as explosively as they can.

you look like youre raising with more momentum than sheer muscle. exercises like this are just too damn painful for me. i hate raises. they must really work as much as they hurt. i rather do rows and presses for lat delts.

Lee Vince ...thanks the advice is appreciated and used

@aboctok What I'm saying is, lifting weight like that actually doesn't isolate the shoulder. Not saying that its not working muscles bro. Hes using a lot of back and legs. This is why you should do medium weight and focus on control. I guarantee that if he cut that weight in half and did it slower it would work it out waayyy better.

what about more slow controlled movements, not using inertia, ex. hold at the top for 2, 3 seconds, better result or not at all?

@samsungprin
That's what "regular lateral raises" are for. You could do those at the beginning if you like and then do these "power lateral raises" at the end to really fry your delts.

@stylescla123
There are all kinds of body part splits you can follow. But a common one is:
Chest, shoulders, and triceps.
Back and biceps.
And legs and abs.
