touchstone, when G&S first wrote the play, it was intended (as indeed all their stuff) as a tweak at BRITISH society. So they used Japan as the 'mask' to make their satire politically acceptable to the British. So now it's come full circle, and we must play ourselves, to be politically-correct!

Very cute--I guess that's one way to avoid the Japanese makeup that offends some people today as politically incorrect. They're not Eric Idle and Felicity Palmer, but the approach brings a freshness to G & S that would appeal to the audience apparent in this video. Thanks for the fun!
