It make sense that the far landscape in the background is similar in color and appearance to that of DaVinci's 'yarnwinder' paintings. - the female subject is believed to be the same sitter by some of us.

Why does the museum call this painting a discovery. It is one of the well known copies and has long been listed in wikipedia, Flickr, and is in books.
she is wearing the colors of the Sforza-Visconti Dynasty. Finally this painting is getting recognition and stirring up curiosity it needs.

Now she's actually pretty!
This also poses a huge threat to the one in the Louvre, because that one is now really just a painting of a beautiful woman whose true beauty (the liveliness and the amused gaze that can be seen in the Prado version) can't be seen underneath all the filth, and now has been left with nothing else to go by but mere reputation and word of mouth.
I will never be able to appreciate that vile thing in the Louvre again. ;)

His name is not DaVinci. Its Leonardo. DaVinci was the city he was born in. Also, the original was trimmed down smaller somewhere after his death.

@BuddyIStalking You can't get within 15 feet of the bloody thing anyway. That I clearly recall was established for security purposes. However, if memory serves me well, I believe it is now encased within some kind of bullet proof glass.
Even if it was the original or a copy, it wouldn't matter, as you'd need binoculars to see the brush strokes.
Yeah. Now, The David is a copy, That is well known, as the attack was very well publicized, as was the placement of a copy of the original.
