  • See, I had a feeling that he was gay. He can still outsing most people today!

  • @jrogue2003 Let me just say that you are way off. Anyone who knew Mervyn knew how immensely talented he was. Truly a vertuoso, Merv was arranging music for all types of musical groups from when he first started college, probably from HS. Take 6 allowed his talent to get the proper recognition and opportunity. Read the liner notes to Quincy Jones album, Back On the Block. He allowed Merv his own track...

  • @dreamkar it was also rumored that he was a gay man and they were afraid that his homosexuality would ruin the image of the group, which is supposed to be strictly Gospel. But nonetheless one of the best talented minds in music and vocally on point. He created alot of the arrangements for Take 6.

  • it's a simple answer... he left take 6 to (quite successfully) concentrate on production and movie scoring!! ;o)

  • THE BIG MAN..!!!!

  • Why did this guy leave take 6? I always wondered that thru the years, but no on ever seems to know the answer.

  • I agree.

  • I love his arrangement, too bad he had to leave take6 for reasons understandable.

  • I have loved Mervyn since '88. I always look for his work from either movies or artists. He definitely has not recv'd the recognition he so deserves. I would love to work on something with him one day.
