Portland-based guitarist Daniel Riddle, a founding member of industrial combo Hitting Birth Family Circus, originally launched King Black Acid as a solo side project, but eventually it became a real band (King Black Acid And The Womb Star Orchestra) with keyboardist Melinda Dicillo, guitarist Roger Campos, bassist Nathan Jorg, drummer Scott Adamo (ex Wipers), percussionist Joe Trump (ex Pigface)

  • this is why portland was "the" place to be in the music scene in the early 90's. heatmiser, jollymon, hitting birth, and on and on and on. amazing time back then to see shows at la luna and other places...

  • ahhh yes i make love to punchy starr inspirational guitarist aka idi admins cousin to dis.

  • These people just blew my mind on the stage of the Satyricon. A rare moment in time when everything comes together and chaos and order become one.

  • Christmas Rock & Shop at the Pine Street Theater in '88! Awsome show!

  • i used to go see them at Satyricon..at that time all they had was cassette tape that they made themselves. Damn I loved this band :) Anyone remember the band Stupid Chemists? Just another great band out of Portland at that time along with Helltrout. Rock on :)

  • sucks ...

  • God, I miss the 90's sometimes.

It was funny. It always used to be-

"Hitting Birth is playing friday! Do you know where to fnd some doses?"

  • I was in Boka Marimba and we played the Boo Ball at the UnionTrain Station they were awesome but i couldn't convince the rest of Boka to do a cogig with them what a trip this group was and the Boo Ball brought out the best in them and the crowd really blended in with the band wish there was some tape of that .

  • I have very fond memories of Hitting Birth, especially a show at the OK Hotel in Seattle. Good stuff! Thanks for posting! I never would have thought there was a video (or two) floating around!

  • @abitar65: I would like to buy copies of these tapes from you if you really still have them. Please PM me if you are interested.

  • Hitting Birth at the Melody Ballroom... sweet, sweet memories. I think I followed these guys to every little dive and under every bridge in Portland. No other band came even close. I really miss these guys.
