Probably had a fuel leak.

@suffer247 - I agree.... once even a small amount of wiring burns, its hard to get a car reliable again.

Pumperman your an ass. It does not make a difference if they are paid or not. It is how the job is done, and beach give it a rest not every department has the same SOP/SOG. At least these guys were properly turned out. I have seen paid dept videos when no SCBAs were used. I think these guys did a good job here. Did they accomplish the mission. Yes fire is out and everyone went home safe. Thats the bottom line!

man that car was hot!

he may be an ass, but paid or career has nothing to do with it. every dept. has idiots in it.

Go fuck yourself, beachfireman, monday morning quarterbacker. How many fires have you fought on the beach? What are you gonna find under the hood? Gee, I wonder. How many car fires do you go on in a year? I bet you're a volly somewhere who could never get on a big city Dept. Quit calling yourself a professional because you sound like a volly and make the pro's look bad.

agreed 4 minutes is nuts to just gain access to the hood if its giving you that much trouble throw the pick end of the haligan into the corners of the hood and pry them up so at least you can start to suppress the fire while the rest of the company works on popping the latch. That latch cabe is goign to be the first thing shot when fires start in the engine compartment. and i dont know why they were opening the side doors first there was no breach beyond the fire wall yet.
Gotta love the kind of citizens who are experts in EVERYTHING; especially the kind who critique Fire, Police, & EMS, when they actually sound like fools. They are talking like they know more then the entire engine crew combined.

Beach....you're clueless. Once a car starts burning, it's totalled. Period. First thing we check at Portland is victims? None. OK...extensions? None. OK. Property conservation? None. Not sure how you do it but we try to avoid standing directly in front of bumpers that could pop. If you look closely, you'll see the crew trying to access by cutting the hinges with cutters...much safer and less exposure/danger for the FF. Your cakehole needs to shut because you have no clue. STFU!!!
