Jana Kohl talks about Joe Biden's decision to buy a German Shepherd from a breeder who was previously suspended by the AKC.

In case you haven't heard yet future V.P. Biden's wife got him a german shepherd from Chester County, home to many Amish whom are notorious for puppy mills. Obviously it is disappointing that they bought their dog from a breeder and perhaps the Bidens can be shown the error of their ways for having not adopted.

i know this breeder she is a wonderfull lady she is just have problems.... she is not a bad person ...all the dogs have free time and they all go in a big pool ..

Defending shelter dogs, VERY few of them are "abused" dogs and shelters won't adopt out "violent" dogs. Most shelter dogs are either strays, which are the result of people being to lazy to spay/neuter their pets, and irresponsible dog owners that dump dogs off because they no longer want to be bothered with a taking care of a dog. Also, TONS of puppies are at shelters. A good deal of the dogs euth'd every day are puppies-saying no to a rescue dog because you want a puppy is just stupid.

The idea that dogs shouldn't be bred because of the dogs in shelters is absolutely ignorant and ridiculous. Anyone who says so obviously knows very little about breeds, or dogs period.

If reputable breeders were banned, there would be no purebred dogs. Even if there were, NONE would be a good example of what the breed should look and act like. We would no longer have working dogs, or any dogs with predictable traits for that matter.

That's like saying that someone with a fever shouldn't try to lower their temperature because if your temperature falls too low, you'll die. The vast majority of breeders make the breeds WORSE by not health or temperament testing, just trying to make a buck. The two ideas aren't mutually exclusive, I for one am firmly against most dog breeding/buying (since most breeders have no idea what they're doing) and even more strongly against ignorant dog ownership.

It's nearly impossible to find Great Danes in shelters because their life expectancy is just seven years and they're not a very popular breed due to size. Good dogs die in shelters every day of the week, that has nothing to do with it. The people who adopt from irresponsible breeders support them with their purchase and give them incentive to continue unsavory practices.

i think he should of adopted from a humane society but he probaly didnt even know that it was a puppy mill but WHY cant he buy from a puppy mill are you saying the humane society dogs deserve a chance but not the puppy mill dogs HUH it aint their fault their born this way !

It leaves me speechless and I get a heavy heart just thinking of the animals who will never run, or feel the earth under their feet..they are in cages, made to suffer so sick cruel heartless twisted greedy people can profit..profit off innocent lives! aaarrr it makes me sick inside!!!!!!

I am proud of Jana! Puppy mill breeders are scum on this earth and Jana does endless incredible work to stop it! You guys who have left ignorant comments are probably people who ARE puppy mill breeders or see nothing wrong with it!!! When you know the suffering animals are put through in these mills..and that they are killed when they can no longer breed, how can ANYONE agree with that or not see anything wrong with it? That is just sick and inhumane..beyond that..
