There's never been any proof known about FDR knowing about Pearl Harbor, or Churchill, or the Australians (another story that got spread around) knowing in advance of the Pearl Harbpor attack, that's why I press the issue on it.
It was believed that the Philippines were the point of attack. Three months prior to Pearl Harbor, we started strengthening our forces in the Philippines in anticipation. Pearl wasn't on the radar screen.
Japan was able to pull off the surprise attack successfully.

That's a good point jregley, Japanese were put in those camps in total violation of their civil rights, their only crime was they were Japanese-Americans.
And many Germans and some Italians suffered the same fate for merely even being suspected of as potential spies and saboteurs.
Unfortunately, habeas corpus was thrown out the door. The only stain under FDR. Lincoln did the same thing during the Civil War, and Wilson was guilty of over reacting at times too.>

If anyone is interested, during the Wilson administration, an independent film producer named Robert Goldstein made a movie called "Spirit of 76", a movie about the American revolution, which was released in 1917. But because the movie had historical accurracies in it, Wilson requested the movie not be shown. Goldstein refused, and was arrested on some trumped up espionage charge, imprisoned, and his film confiscated. It's on the internet, it's short reading, but interesting.
