Pikmin 2 Speedrun - Day 8 Part 3

Segment 98 of an improvement to the Pikmin 2 speedrun at SDA, consisting of the main Wistful Wild segment where I collect every above ground treasure. Gameplay-wise, this is the longest segment of the run, and probably the second hardest behind the beginning of Day 4.

I can't compare the time yet (not for another 16 segments...), as there's still one above ground segment left, but the time saved above ground should be about 5:50.


(I wasn't intending on getting any sprays, much less four of them... I've never gotten that many sprays before ever, so I was insanely lucky for that to occur in my successful attempt.)

After watching a lot of this speed run I tried to get both captains to drink the sprays but unfortunately it doesn't work for me...the second the first starts drinking I can't switch

You have to switch before the first captain touches the spray.

@MilesSMB So if the other one's in the vicinity he'll just start drinking it?

No. When you switch captaiins, the first captain won't stop instantly; you need to let that remaining bit of momentum carry the captain into the spray.

Alternatively, you can get close to a spray, switch captains, then use the second captain to push the first into the spray; the first will start drinking it as soon as he touches it.
