  • @blazedbl of the opponent, if they at least used the spin to move of line or to keep moving off line it would better.Moving of line in combat is a vital skill,

As a Fight Director I get tired of having Star Wars held up as some kind of peak in performance fights, when they ignore fundamental principles of physics and combat. If one then points things out the answer comes back.. well they are using the Force or it just fiction. Would we excuse bad acting because they were using the Force??

  • @blazedbl I mean lets not use the fiction to justify poor choices in choreography, things that normal people would be able to beat, let alone people who are using the Force! People can deflect arrows with swords so I see no reason why the fiction of the force would not allow someone to deflect blaster bolts, but that of itself doesn't answer the point of wide open spins that are not exploited.

I'd be very happy for them not to stay in front of each other, but all the spins take place in front

  • @OneMindAnyWeapon Lets not talk about the fiction? This is a fighting style based in a fictional universe and we can't add the fiction to explain the things they do?

It's a sword fighting technique that is fast paced and does not require both combatants to stay in front of each other. I'd go through the list of spins you listed below, but I feel like working out. You can like or not like it. It's a fictional movie with bad ass people who use bad ass laser swords. Lol

  • @blazedbl err yeah, lets not talk about the fiction, I am talking about the reason that they can;t make a straight attack forwards against a large circular spinning attack where they turn their backs....here. this has nothing to do with force skills, which are anyway at the end of the day are a work of fiction, this is the bad application of logic and physics

  • @blazedbl 0.26 attacker left, takes a big wound up spin, giving the guy on the right loads of time to attack, but in stead he also spins!! to turn his back to the attack and then hand his sword behind him to block the attack!!

then at 0.28 guy on right takes a big wound up spin for no reason, while the guy on left actually pulls his sword back to give the attacker more time to spin! .31 actually spins out of kneeling guy on left just stands there and lets him do it! .39 another pointless spin.

  • @OneMindAnyWeapon And you don't have to be able to see force skills for them to be there. In the movies they're using their senses like when they deflect blasters.

  • @OneMindAnyWeapon Where in the video???

  • @blazedbl well that's what I am seeing here.... bad fight choreo... they aren't countering or using force skills they are doing moves to look "cool" at the expense of the fight

  • @OneMindAnyWeapon Then it is a counter attack. Like I said man there's a lot of variables.

I see what your talking about though. Like in a new hope Obi Wan Fights Vader. Remember when he does that completely unnecessary spin? It's just bad choreographing, but most times "when there is a good choreographer" the spins have some meaning.

  • @blazedbl and no they aren't always parrying in the spin.... as they are making the an attack after the spin, which they can do because the other person just stands there an waits for them to finish....
