Buck Nighthawk outdoor camping knife

The Buck Nighthawk is a good "general use" camping knife well built, sturdy, abuseable, tough as nails, and rugged.
This knife is a cheeper but compareable with high quality knives, with out the price.

A couple of minor criticisms, the knife you reviewed is a Short Nighthawk, model 655, not 650 and it does have a full tang. The 650 has a 6.25" blade and no serrations.

If you want to be really impressed (I was) look at the Buck 650 destruction test, 5-part series.

I bought this one on clearance. The handle feels nice, it has a thick spine, and a decent size. However, it isn't my favorite. Just doesn't do any one thing that my other knives don't do a bit better. Oh, well.

As for the tang I watched a destruction test and when the handle was broken it showed a full tang underneath as thick as the base of the spine.

These knives hold a good edge and can be made razor sharp.I compare it to a Kabar in size/capabilities but it is 420c stainless.I actually prefer it to the Kabar USMC knife.

dude i might be getting this knife soon with the serations would u recomend it for just basic fire and shelter making????
