The motives behind their ability to 'make money' using their spirituality is what's being questioned here. It's commercialized spirituality, which ultimately goes against everything that any of these paths within paganism tries to teach. There is a difference between earning a modest living with your craft and commercializing it. Laurie Cabot, Salem 'witches'...and MANY of these celebrity Youtube pagans as well, are cashing in on a trend...and that's most definitely not spiritual. End of story!

...continued. in reality it smacks of intolerance and ignorance.
Why do Pagans feel that they reserve the right to find such negative opinions of others within the Pagan community? Especially those who are making a living from their beliefs.
Money, abundance and wealth is just another form of energy in the universe, one in which we can all tap into.
I do not think it is fair to equate someones ability to make money with being dis-ingenuous or fake.
Be genuine not critical.

There are a wide variety of responses here but many are overwhelmingly negative and I find that difficult to take in the Pagan community.
I found Paganism at a young age because it felt to me like a belief structure that left a lot of room for people to be who they are and to find acceptance and respect.
But in public forums I have witnessed many pagans expressing criticism's and negativity directed at others who live differently.
And you can live behind your criticisms of commercialism but..

Laurie's in Salem, and they get a lot of tourists coming in for witchy stuff. There's lots of money to be made in that. So, she's doing it to make money, but that's not a big deal for me. It would be more annoying for me if she was claiming to try and help the community instead of making money. The only thing that really irks me about her is some of the information she gives is incorrect.

Loved this video, I am getting really sick of ''Product Pagans''. It seems like a lot of pagans nowdays, especially certain characters within the youtube community. I don't like how people are giving themselves titles like ''Official Witch'', ''Guru'', ''Ascended Master'', ect. I think a lot of them just wanna be the next Mystic Meg. lol. I'm not a fan of Cabot either. Great video.

I also believe the topic of Paganism ( as an unbrella term ), modernisation and commercialism would be a great topic for discussion looking at the evolution of earth based paths and how so many seek fame and fourtune from what was once a taboo and hidden path, a path in which we utalized the tools of the earth we had readily available, the elements etc. I agree SO strongly that there are far too many indoor "pagans" .... I try all I can to get outdoors to worship xx

Great video Waide, I love it =D !!! Thank you. I believe so many here are also fake. I found it so interesting that so many did not know who Laurie Cabot was.... None the less, you have made some wonderful points, and while I feel the has capitalized on am image, you are correct, it is her life. I also find it interesting she changed her maiden name to Cabot ..... You did not come over offensive, but direct and with truth !! You have earned my sub. L&L Allison

@WaideRohain Thanks for the encouragement. I was afraid, well no, I knew my comment was harsh, but I couldn't hold back. I just had a visceral reaction when I first saw her videos and that silly pompous shop of hers. I thought how much of a sham it all was and that any real Pagan would never, EVER buy into anything "natural". LOL it defeats the purpose and is highly convoluted hahahahaha.

@RylannaMoonstone I totally agree, i think its a fine line between the two, theres offering a service thats needed to satisfy customers and then offering a service that is really only to satisfy yourself. Thanks for the comment :)

@AutumnRainFaery Hey! I did mention that at the end of the video. I decided that this week i wanted to just be completely honest in my video, but i do respect laurie for some of the things she has done for the progression of paganism, i just dont personally agree with the more recent moves shes made. But like i said at the end of the video, i withhold any judgement on her as a person as i dont know her and that would be extremely foolish! Thanks for the comment anyway, blessed be:)
I am glad that you brought up the subject of You Tube "celebrity" Pagans..I had dealings with one who is QUITE popular. Won't say her name..but she has 2 channels. She was TOTALLY different when I talked with her on the phone & emails. She is all "I love you all". Even throwing kisses on her vids. But when I challenged her about an attack on me,she was a total b****.Yet she PROFESSES to be a divine channel & high priestess. Her brand of Wicca is an IMAGE nothing more. Great video!

We may all not like everyone or agree with others views but we should show respect to them just as we want them to show respect to us. No one is forced to buy anything from anyone that is your choice. If you dont know someone personlly you really cant make judgements on who they are. Blessing to you!
