@Endriking Inva Mula is excellent in this aria - the little of it we get to hear - but given as we don't have a recording of Inva Mula's singing the full mad scene, but only the first part plus some additions written specifically for the movie, it's really difficult to compare. Edita Gruberova is excellent. Also you are comparing a recording made for the movie with a live performance which is very different.

I saw Gruberova perform an opening night Lucia at Covent Garden in the late 1980s...it was out of this world. If anyone understands the feeling of the role, she does. Her cadenzas remain the standard for me. Even here, so many years later, she remains an inspiration. Brava Edita!

Inva Mula sings this song better

@momoq86 - sounds to me like she's just in character. the aria itself is all over the place as Lucia has just murdered the man she was tricked into marrying and is swiftly going insane.

Buen alcance de voz
ademas de buena voz y tono
pero....
se siente como si faltara algo
no se que, pero me da esa impresion.
Aun asi hermosa interpretacion.

Inva Mula is so much better... and her version was not edited. Get ya facts straight, before you talk nonsense.

@momoq86 It is for dramatic effect. Look up the synopsis of this aria and you may understand her choices better. After all, she is going crazy in this scene...

i dont know much about the technicalities of singing opera but her sharp intake of breath in at certain part of this aria, seem like her techniques are very flaw...

Well, Gruberova is known for her superior technique: she is one of the very few singers who hass full control over her breath and voice.

Sounds wonderful, but her facial expressions are funny.

But matching the emotions of the role. (if you want really funny faces watch Cecilia Bartoli!)
