This was great. I was looking for anything Tigers and stumbled upon this video. Brings back great memories. And to see Dancing Herbie again, that was awesome. He was so much fun.

It was a sad day today though to hear about the passing of "The Bird"

mainly because detroit baseball hadn't been the same since the 1968 championship and 1984 was their first serious run for the title during that 16-year span

With Tiger Stadium now gone, the memory of what's been known as a "great opera house of a ballpark" lives on in this video. The whole state was behind that team, at a time when the Pistons were rebuilding, the Red Wings stunk, and the Lions were the Lions. There was nothing like watching the games on Channel 4 or hearing the wonderful Ernie Harwell and Paul Carey on WJR. And 25 years after that team, the Tigers are winning again. GO TIGERS!!!

It sure brings back memories.. I was still in high school at that time! My mom still has The Detroit News paper when they won the 1984 world series. I miss those boys!

01:11 - I believe this was Lemon robbing Rod Carew of a two run homer with two out in the bottom of the 12th in Anaheim to give the Tigers a 4-3 win, which was actually in 1983.

Good job on remembering that lineup, although Juan Berenguer started more games as a fifth starter than Rozema. I can never forget Rozema trying to karate kick John Castino of the Twins in a bench-clearing brawl a couple of years prior; too bad he messed up his knee. My favorite play from 1984 -- other than Gibby's HR off Gossage -- had to be in the World Series when Lance Parrish stepped out for a pitch out, but Aurelio Lopez threw the ball straight and got the ump in the nuts."Bless you boys"
