Gold Prospecting in Midwest. Glacial gold

Visited Gatesville IN for the first time to do some gold panning. Yes there is gold in Indiana. It was the hottest day in 20 some years but we kept cool in the creek. I had a blast and was welcomed by warm hospitality at the Gatesville Country Store. Thanks to Robin for providing a place to prospect.

I assume the same kind of gold can be found in south western ohio like the cincinnati are? my dad just bought a 50 acre property in loveland ohio and there is a nice little creek in the property water falls and some hills around it and collapsing banks so i assume i could try!

@shrimpinpat Im not sure but I know they pan for it around Hillsboro peebles area.but chances are there is glacial gold where you are.

Do they allow dredges or highbankers in that stream? I know the color here is hard to find and small at that, I prospect in west central Ohio...

At least you had a good time and did not get skunked... May you always have a flash in your pan.

Congradulations on your gold find,but while watching your video I noticed that there was a lot of matearil built up behind the baffles you probably lost more gold than you found.the only thing you really want to see collecting in the baffles is black sand.it looks like the water going through your box was deep enough,maybe to deep,but you should have had a steeper slope to it.hope this helps and good hunting.

Fun for you and fun for us - thanks for video. Keep sampling the area and keep your concentrate samples separate until you have a good mental map of where the gold is running! (or pan out your samples each time...) GL

@jmwnycprr Hell yea..I did that when I went to the Diamond mines in Arkasas...filled up (4) 5 gallon buckets of mostly cleaned out dirt..and spent the next week going thru it...Was suprised the Civics shocks didnt go out..lol

@garbageguru1 Yeah might have found 5 cents in gold the whole day lol. Made more money in adsense on the video lol. It takes a strong magnet for garnets they are semi magnetic. Some diamonds will glow differant colours in UV light too.
