Featured on Tori's cover album, Strange Little Girls.

Standing in the shower, letting the water run over her, washing it away, washing everything away, she realises that what made it the hardest was that it had smelled just like her own high school.

She had walked through the corridors, heart beating raggedly in her chest, smelling that school smell, and it all came back to her.

It was only what, six years, maybe less, since it had been her running from locker to classroom, since she had watched her friends crying and raging and brooding over the taunts and the names and the thousand hurts that plague the powerless.
None of them had ever gone this far.

She found the first body in a stairwell.

That night, after the shower, which could not wash what she had had to do away, not really, she said to her husband, "I'm scared."

"Of what?"

"That this job is making me hard. That it's making me someone else. Someone I don't know any more."

He pulled her close, and held her, and they stayed touching, skin to skin, until dawn.

-- Written by Neil Gaiman.

    well, both versions are good

this one is more... serious... don't know how to express it...

the original song represents the girl's mind... she said it was fun for her... she's... well... mad, and i think that's what the original version wants to show

Watching the West Wing for the first time ever! This show was fabulous! There are a few touching episodes, 20 Hours and this song had me in Tears. Watching this so soon after the Boston Marathon Event and in the shadow of the Newtown shooting was hard!

I honestly believe the west wing is one of the top 5 greatest american tv shows ever made and you are so right about this bit I've watched the entire 7 seasons 4 times with certain episodes repeated but I don't think I've ever watched this without sobbing and the music certainly goes a long way to that, I'd say the next best use of music is when Leo is running through the white house to tell the president that zoey has been kidnapped could be wrong I think that was a massive attack song

I just watched that episode again, too. Very striking use of a powerful song, beautifully interpreted by Tori.

You and your teacher might want to take another crack at analyzing this song. Swing and a miss. The song isn't from "her" point of view and the references to not liking Mondays are made in the first person for instance.
