A video promo I did for Earth Week which started with Meatless Monday. (Our printer ran out of black ink which is why the contrast in some pictures is not so good.)

G.S.I. Presents
The Earth, Meat, and You
What does meat have to do with the earth?
According to the U.N., Cattle-rearing is a major source of land and water degradation.
Also, while 12 percent of greenhouse gases are caused by transportation, 15 percent of greenhouse gases come from the meat industry.
How does meat production cause this?
First, 7 pounds of grain and 2,400 gallons of water are required for every 1 pound of beef.
It takes a lot of land to not only house cattle but also a lot of land to grow their food.
Forests are cleared to create new pastures and it is a major cause of deforestation.
70 per cent of former forests in the Amazon have been turned over to grazing.
The livestock business is also among the most damaging factors to the earths increasingly scarce water resources.
Even in the United States we face water scarcity.
The meat industry also contributes to water pollution from animal wastes, antibiotics and hormones, chemicals from tanneries, fertilizers and the pesticides used to spray feed crops.
Meat is not the only bi-product of a cow.
9 per cent of all CO2 deriving from human-related activities come from meat
The meat industry accounts for 37 per cent of all human-induced methane. Methane is 23 times as warming as CO2.
The meat industry also generates 65 per cent of human-related nitrous oxide which has 296 times the Global Warming Potential of CO2!
Not only that, meat accounts for 64 per cent of ammonia, which contributes significantly to acid rain.
So, what can you do? Next Monday during Earth Week,
Have a Meatless Monday!

  • @TheTimelessTruth Global warming is a bullshit hoax.

  • LMAO

  • Let's hope some more generations of humans are able to live on this planet.

If we take the existence of homo erectus as 24 hours, the invention of agriculture is just 8 minutes ago. Before this, just around 7 Million people lived on the planet. 1500 we were 500 Million, now we are heading to become 10 Billion.

If we can survive just 300 more years (15 sec.), as much homo sapiens could enjoy their lives in this period as in our entire history before.

  • methane production by cattle breeding could be determing for reaching irreversible tipping points of climate change such as methane releases from increased permafrost melt...
