this song is major influenced by Charles Mingus' "Freedom" . Go check it out, you won't regret anything.

the beginning, with that woman laughing, and the piano.. Is something special

i hate it when ppl talk during songs at shows like this.. :-(

WOW!!! This is fascinating - it's so different from the album version. It's faster and the groove is straight instead of swung. the harmonic rhythm is slightly changed at the end of the phrase as well. Also without the wordless melody that comes at the start and between the two verses. sorry for the dissertation but i love this song above all other Radiohead songs.

This is not a demo, but recorded in 1999 in the Rai in Amsterdam during the Tibetan Freedom Concert. Thom and Jonny were performing some songs, including this 'Egyptian song'. You can hear the spectators talk Dutch

man, I so agree with you in your description, I always thought that the Pyramid thing was somehow linked to the story in the song :(

I think I do :)

It reminds me of a theme of exploring the past. Ergo, Egypt. However, Radiohead figured out a way to keep that theme while adding the "Divine Comedy" stuff. Pyramids were tombs, ergo "Pyramid Song". My interpretation anyway.
