Iogear Digital Pen install

My idea was to give my grandson a birthday gift. I think he will find (like I did)it will not work based on the software supplied. The OCR needs more $'s. (not prepared to spend more, the upgrade may not be any better for the user!

Yes if I OCR the files I save I do get a better resualt.

Because this was to be a present to my grand son, He like so many take the product info at face value. So he hasn't even taken the pen out of the box!

The OCR software works fine, but it needs to be "trained" to recognize your handwriting. This is a very good product at a reasonable price, and I've yet to find anything comparable. Most digital pens seem to require some type of proprietary paper, and the digi-notepads require a certain size notebook.

I like the fact that it can double as a drawing tablet, but I just wish it came with a stylus-type pen cap so that I can write on a surface without wasting ink when using it as a tablet.

Your a cool grandpa! :) OCR just does not work with hand written txt. I would not fault this product for that. Try running the images from this through your scanner OCR and see if you get a better result. I had a product like this and the real strength was taking notes with diagrams in class and storing them as jpeg images organized by subject and date. Also can be used as a mouse. Much better than the Logitech IO2 Pen product costing 3 times more and requiring special paper!
