  • Before you disagree, note this - just because you like the music, doesn't make it fado.

Lura sings Cabo Verdian Morna, Miguel Poveda is a Flamenco singer, and Caetano Veloso is a Brazilian Bossa Nova singer. It is true that they may cross over, but their styles are so unmistakeably influenced by their primary musical roots that they really cannot give a good representation of an authentic fado.

  • Mariza e Lura wwoooooww!

Só por estas duas maravilhosas e magnificas cantoras o filme deve valer a pena! Na minha opinião alguns cantores brasileiros e argentinos eram dispensados mas vou esperar para ver =)

  • This is very cool but looks very different from the Fado I experienced in my first and only visit to Lisboa in 2007. But then, all of the Fado I saw was in a couple of local small restaurants where there were folks who came in off the street to sing as well as those who worked at or owned the establishments. This is obviously the more professional circuit. In any case, I fell in love with the music while I was there. Amazing stuff.

  • hey hey hey...Bravo. Viva o fado, Carlos do Carmo, Mariza, Camané!

  • Well I can see this is a feisty discussion here. I am Portuguese and i deeply appreciate this "interpretation" provided by mr Saura about fado. As a portuguese I feel proud of it, and moreover I believe that there is a difference between being a fadista and singing fado. I believe that all you out there arguing that if you like it, you dont know what fado is, are the same that were saying thar Mariza, Ana Moura, Cristina Branco weren't fadistas, and they didnt know what fado was!!!!stop it

  • Muy lindo !!! Gracias desde argentina ,en el sur .

  • awesome!

  • fado.more than a style is a feeling, something deep inside on minds and hearts of portuguese people,we cant forget this not a documental.its a movie and as viewrs we should try to discover why this film maker have choosed to this remarkble singers instead of asking, but why he have put this foreigner singer if fado have better xporsers?on my point of view he have tryed to show that fado even been so portuguse have also been adopted by the world as a new style path and that show us how is evolving

  • Perfect!!!I agree with Mencado!!!!!!!!!!

  • Perfect!!!!If a portuguese would make something look like this and called it "Flamenco"!!!Ay Ay Jesus, Maria e José!!!!

  • all respect to all the comments made.

but take this into consideration-where does fado come from? what are fado`s true origins? so please before trying to define what is and what is not fado lets do our research!!!!!!!!!! another thing fado hasn`t got a definition or style!!!!!!! to make it clearer i give you two great fado singers Amalia Rodrigues (RIP) and Mariza. my point being two wonderful singers and two very opposite interpretations of fado.
