Late Friday night on August 7 2009 a Land Rover Defender (with 38" tyres) got stuck in Blanda glacial river in Iceland. The driver and his passenger made it safely to the bank of the river but the engine and passenger rooms were flooded and hence the Land Rover was stranded in the river.

The day after the Land Rover was towed over Blanda by a Benz Unimog with 54" tyres. The video shows how it should be done... :)

  • It's engine was not running and they were worried that it might not withstand the strong current in the river. So with the driver on the outside, it was less chance of him being trapped inside. Whether this was a wise decision or not, I am not going to say...

  • snilld...bara gaman af svona :) Better to be safe than sorry ;)

  • At least they used a strap ling enough to allow the Unimog to ford the river completely, thus preventing the chance that both vehicles become stuck in the river, and in the highly unlikely chance the Unimog gets stuck the land orver could have ahem "tried" to pull it out.

  • Why did the landrover guy stay on the outside?
