Great Video. Lots of interesting equipment seen here. It's really interesting to see that ex-UP GP9 on the Iowa Interstate train. With UP's modern power today, it's hard to believe that they once used those units.

@TrainHistorian Thanks! I reserve the music for my Trainz videos. :)

I love the IHB Locos

awesome M3R1 on that GTW!!! Wish they would've just kept using those on all of the units still in service and not those P5's.

The lack of ditch lights, CLASSIC! Free to roam almost anywhere you wanted there, PRICELESS! I myself filmed there in the early 90's, awesome to see someone else did. THANKS!

Blue Island isn't even configured like that anymore. The tracks where the Harbor Belt was switching is ripped out while the switches and GT are gone.
It's amazing how ten plus years full of changes hit a place!

I'm not sure what you are referring to. The track layout at Blue Island in 1992 was almost identical to what it is today. The big difference is that CN now owns the GT line. IAIS still makes the same reverse movements off the Metra line to the IHB and CSX and IHB still own the other mainlines that cross here.

I was referring to the tracks beyond the main junction. Not the bridge tracks but the extra set of tracks where the Iowa Interstate train was switching at the start of your video.
I've heard people say traffic is not as prolific as it once was.. Well yeah, but that's because of mergers. Traffic volume hasn't changed much but owners have.

Those tracks are most definitely still there and are still used by IAIS and also CSX freights switching to the IHB to either Blue Island Yard or Barr Yard.

I was there over the weekend, one of the crossing gates still has an actual bell instead of a recording of one

I was there on Monday. Kind of a slow day.
